50 years of SEM-Plastomed
On 1. in November 2021, we were proud to look back on 50 years of company history. Herbert Schmid founded the company »SEM Schmid-Elektro-Montagen GmbH« in 1971. This involved the construction and installation of control systems for industry, power plants, automobile construction, hospitals and electrical installation for private customers. In 1985, the company »Plastomed« was founded, which initially dealt with the assembly and processing of half-finished plastic products.

Establishment of a training and media room.
2016
Construction & commissioning of a second clean-room production facility in accordance with GMP-C.
2015
Introduction of our new company logo on January 1, 2015.
2014
01.08.2014 saw the generation change for SEM-Plastomed GmbH. Company founder & Managing Director Herbert Schmid officially hands over the day-to-day business to his son Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Holger Schmid.

New construction of a reception building.
2011
Construction of a new raw material storage building for improved material-flow logistics. Introduction of an SPS-controlled material-supply facility. Commissioning of a central technological tool store.

Construction of a Clean-room production facility acc. to ISO 7.

Construction of a new production & storage building.

Merger of SEM - Schmid Elektromontagen GmbH and Plastomed into one company: known today as SEM-Plastomed GmbH.
1993
Production takeover of spacers for the construction & paper industry for the enhancement of technological plastic products.

Development of own in-house products.
Construction of a production hall for manufacturing, assembling and packaging of medical products.
1985
Founding of the company Plastomed. Business area: Fabrication, assembly & packaging of plastic semi-finished products.
1978
Relocation of the company from Altenkirchen to Obererbach/Westerwald.
1971
Founding of the company SEM - Schmid Elektromontagen GmbH by Mr. Herbert Schmid. Business area: control device technology for industry and hospital construction through to power station construction and automobile construction.
